Undisputed King of Tadoba, he is popular as Matkasura among the guides, drivers and wildlife lovers.
He is perhaps one of the prominent reigning male in the forest and is vastly popular among the visitors.
Stories and fables have always been woven around this majestic beast – be his ferocious fight with another alpha male or a sloth bear to the forest guard on census duty he killed!
No wonder then as I ventured into the forest and witnessed a young tiger mating with a tigress near the Tadoba lake and thought this was it – that I was told that no visit to Tadoba was complete without an encounter with the King himself.
So the jungle beckoned me to visit again, and again I shall continue with the story of Matkasura….
