Adab, Andaaz and Art in the City of Nawabs …
Kuldeepak Banda/ Feb21,2020

From the Delhi Sultanate to the Mughals and later the Nawabs of Awadh in the 18th & 19th centuries, Lucknow remained an important seat of power for the British and later so in the Independent India. Adab, Andaaz and Art are three words that best describe the flavor of Awadh manifesting in the architecture, poetry, music, design, tourism, food and almost everything we come across in our day-to-day life in Lucknow. I have been to the city several times earlier in the past, mostly for work, albeit this time I decided to venture the place as a tourist and trust me; the city being a trove of many treasures, a lifetime will fall short to explore it in totality. River Gomati, a tributary of the Ganges that flows and caresses the city soul, it's riverfront has been beautifully developed and is one of the must go places in Lucknow. Be it a morning or evening stroll, it offers solitude, a pleasant view and serves to calm the city nerves. Bewitching beauty that this riverfront has, I did not miss enjoying hot Maggi and Tandoori Chai offered on the street leading to the parking before I hit the road again, wanting to see more and more of this City of Nawabs. To be continued...
